Urša Šolc has a university Diploma in geography, and is the care-taker of projects in the field of environmental protection. She is characterized by a wide field of interests and work, for in the company she leads and collaborates with projects from the field of environmental protection, protection of nature, and regional development. In her opinion all these fields are closely connected, for true development can only mean sustainable development in her eyes, that is development which treats all three points of view equally (the economic, the social and the environmental) in accordance with the limitations of the environment. In the field of environmental protection she is particularly active in the preparation of environmental reports in the processes of holistic evaluations of influences on the environment for strategic and executive spatial acts, local programs of environmental protection for community members, and with the preparation of a professional basis for spatial acts. She also concerns herself with the protection of sources of water (the Dobroveljska plateau, municipality of Borovnica) and with the modelling of environmental databases. In the field of rural development and regional development she has in the past gathered a lot of experience with the preparation of developmental programs on different levels (holistic rural development and village restoration, municipal development programs, regional development programs ...) and with the implementation of development projects particularly in the field of management of tourist or recreational infrastructure (tourist paths, cycle-paths, foot-paths). Besides this, Urša is capable of working with geographical information systems (programming tools ArcMap) and cartography. She is continuing her education with the interdisciplinary postgraduate study of environmental protection at the University of Ljubljana, for she wishes to advance in her profession and transfer her gained knowledge into practice. |
